Tip for May 2008:
Reframe the Problem – Key Words: Often a problem statement is made that creates a brick wall feeling and the response: “we’re stuck – we can’t do anything about this”.   To help the group reframe and shift their viewpoint, it helps to explore the meaning of words and then identify the unspoken assumptions about those words.   Compose the problem statement, then underline the key words that most impact the problem.   Discuss each key word to understand the questions or assumptions underlying those words and then assess if the interpretation of the word is causing a barrier.   This can highlight new ways to approach the problem
